The Cucumber impresses with its space and industrial luxurious look: glittering glass blocks, carcasses lay underneath a very tall ceiling, marble table tops mix well with rough-looking brick legs, ramps light the 12-meter live wall with herbs and vegetables. The design was created by the Megre Interiors agency.

The factory is best observed from the second and third floors – where VIP-halls are situated. Constructions and details carry sense and beauty in every nuance. Fruits and vegetables reside in their boxes in one corner, a transformer-stage is set up for celebrity concerts in the other. Young guests have a blast in a designated playground zone with rides and slides. There’s a special menu for the little ones, and every Saturday the restaurant hosts culinary master classes. As well as gastronomic shows with molecular cuisine themes. The key word is functionality. The Cucumber is perfectly suitable for beer nights with the boys, for casual girl talks and for a quick bite amid shopping sprees. The menu covers the whole world: Siberian dumplings and roasted beef, glass noodles with chicken and juicy burgers, Kamchatka crab and teriyaki tuna.

If you happen to be a gourmet of the highest order, satisfy your curiosity: all workshops are open. The process of food-making happens right in front of your eyes. Squeeze between saucepans and cook hats, sit yourself on high stools and watch Volga crucian carps being stewed in sour cream, giblets are chopped into rassolnik soup and sweet eggplants are thrown into red-hot Wok. But you don’t have to be all fancy at the Cucumber. There are classic Soviet desserts on the menu – “Mishka na severe”, “Polet”, “Praga”. You can absolutely get away with eating those!

The atmosphere is pleasant. The restaurant is big, with many seats (including large comfortable sofas). There is a playroom with an animator, who is occupied by her personal matters and her mobile, so the kids are left to themselves. Other staff is nice and attentive. Dishes have interesting serving, but there is nothing outstanding in their taste. The prices are not low though.

I really liked the interior of Cucumber (something Scandinavian-style, I think): open kitchen, comfy sofas, lots of greenery. Menu is large and varied, everything is fresh. I took the chicken liver pate – really delicious with toasted baguette. I asked for not very spicy Tom Yam soup, so it turned out to be atypically mild, yet really tasty. The waiter was really nice. Dishes were prepared a little long in my opinion, but it was the only minus.
