Metel’ (Russian for “blizzard”) is a restaurant in the center of St. Petersburg with a poetic atmosphere and a large menu of neo-Russian cuisine.
The interior rightfully bears the title of creative and poetic: at the heart of the design concept is improvisation on the theme of the Pushkin House, the center of attraction for the best minds of its time and true creators. Several halls have preserved brickwork and vaulted ceilings. The walls are decorated with paintings in massive gold frames, large mirrors, and multi-colored carpets are spread on the floor, eegant 19th-century style furniture coexists with modern velor sofas, the antique piano has tall candelabra – every detail adds to the atmosphere.
The menu of Metel’ offers dishes of neo-Russian cuisine, and the sheets themselves are decorated with drawings from Pushkin’s drafts. In the snack section there are mini-tartalets with smoked mackerel and dill mayonnaise, oxtail jelly with horseradish mousse and mustard ice-cream, chicken-and-port paté with pine nuts and cone jam, pies with hare meat or crab. There are also soups – borscht with veal cheeks and wild mushroom soup with pearl barley and baked potatoes. Among the hot dishes there are Chiken Kiev with sunchoke-and-potato cream and cucumber jam, damb shank with pea croquette, Ladoga pike perch with parsnip pancakes.
As for drinks, the focus is on wines: the wine card includes more than 100 items from all over the worlda, and the bottles are stored in a wine cellar.
Metel’ is an atmospheric restaurant that will appeal to all connoisseurs of conceptual establishments and author cuisine.
