The name of the restaurant Sklad №5 has a reason behind it. In previous century it used to be a warehouse of colonial goods and one of the best wine cellars in Europe.

The Sklad №5 interior is Art Nouveau inspired. Tailor-made armchairs and sofas with textile upholstery of refined colors and artificially worn-out tables accentuate the atmosphere of the early 20th century. The walls were left untouched during the renovation, only a bit refreshed. Antique curbstones, a table for making home pasta and meat slicers which stand in the center, were bought in Italian antique shops. The wine cellar remained at the same place as a hundred years ago.

The menu includes Russian, European and Asian cuisine. A special place is allocated for Russian pickles following the recipe of Eliseevy Merchants and so-called “colonial” pickles which stand on shelves right in the restaurant. A particular highlight of the restaurant is a dessert menu from Michelin-starred French Pastry Chef Dimitry Esposito.

Visitors speak:

Sklad 5 is a small Russian gem in the basement of the fabulous Eliseev Merchants’ Shop. It offers dishes of both Russian and European Cuisine, and the food is very good. We probably wouldn’t go there if it wasn’t for the food shop above but all the same we were very pleased we found that quiet cozy eating place.

The atmosphere there was eclectic yet really nice. The waitress was friendly and helpful. The food was full of flavour. I wish I had more time in Saint Petersburg as I would have loved to come back once again. Highly recommend the place for lunch.
