Du Nord 1834 is both French confectionery and restaurant located in the center of Saint Petersburg, on the first floor of Oktyabrskaya hotel. It offers the guests fresh and delicious French bakery and traditional dishes of French cuisine.
The name Du Nord 1834 was chosen because of the fact that in 1834 in the very same building one of the first French confectioneries of Petersburg Du Nord 1834 was opened and later became rather popular with the city aristocracy.
In 2011 an experienced team of restaurants producers decided to bring back a French confectionery to this place, and to offer also classic dishes of French cuisine. Here the guests can taste traditional French dishes, such as onion soup, entrecote or even frog paws and after order for dessert extra fresh croissant, chocolate puff or bijou pastry. Those, who lives not far from Du Nord 1834, usually come to buy a crispy baguette or fresh bakery to enjoy at home with a cup of tea or coffee.
Du Nord 1834 can be rightfully considered to be the place, where the best coffee at Saint Petersburg is served. Exclusive coffee-machines were bought: one of them is a model of manual assembling and another one is a super automatic model, and there are only two of them in the whole city!
In Du Nord 1834 the guests find themselves in a cozy drawing room somewhere in Paris. The place is decorated in a style of classic French confectionery: simple and elegant interior creates free and easy atmosphere! The waiters even take express-courses of French and welcome the guests with “Bonjour”!
